Beginning a journey to live more simply…

We spent some time in our tiny kitchen after work this evening. Finished framing both counters and placed 3/4″ plywood on each frame to create the subsurface for the stainless steel counter tops. We used 2×4’s for the frame, putting it together with 3″ deck screws. We then secured the 3/4″ plywood with 2″ deck screws. The counters are 36″ high, consistent with most kitchens, and allowing plenty of clearance below for our appliances to fit.

It really is quite amazing how much room there is in the kitchen. We opted to divert from the layout suggested in the Tumbleweed Tiny House plans, and feel that we’ve created a larger feeling -and much more open- workspace in which to prepare our meals as we begin this adventure together.
